Google Store in New York removes Stadia demo room

Google’s first retail store opened in New York last year with in-person shopping, repairs, advice and product demonstrations. The Google Store also had a Stadia room, but this has been removed from the Chelsea location.

The Google Store in Chelsea, New York has removed its Stadia Experience Room for the past week or two, 9to5Google confirmed. When visiting the store in person this week, the Stadia Room was removed entirely and replaced with a new experience around the Pixel Buds Pro. The Stadia experience was still in place at at least end of June.

As it stands, the Google Store in Chelsea offers three experience rooms; one for Nest products like Nest Audio and Hub, a room to test Pixel smartphone cameras, and now a room to check out Pixel Buds Pro – this Pixel Buds room has replaced the old Stadia space (more on that soon ).

The Google Store Stadia Room gave everyone the chance to try out Stadia games in the store, using Stadia controllers with Pixel phones, Pixelbook Go, and Chromecast Ultra on TVs. The room was built with neat audio “domes” that created a personal listening space without the need for headphones, as well as furniture to sit and enjoy the games. With the removal of the room, the Google Store in New York does not offer a Stadia demo.

The Stadia space launched with the store in 2021 and is the first piece that Google has removed from the store so far. Presumably, Google will mix these three pieces at Chelsea as new products are released over time.

Notably, the Google Store in Brooklyn (Williamsburg) does not have such experience rooms, but both locations sell the Stadia controller alongside other Google hardware products, including Pixel phones, headphones, and Nest products.
