An updated look at what FSU added, what they still need, and what is next

On the defensive side of the ball, FSU added talent from all levels – high school, junior college, and the transfer portal. Some needs were addressed, while others remain.

FSU has landed just one transfer so far – four-star defensive lineman Darrell Jackson, who is coming to FSU from Miami. Jackson, a known commodity in the college game, leads a defensive line class that also includes junior college three-star defensive lineman Jaden Jones, who hails from Alabama but was playing at Hutchinson C.C. in Kansas before an ACL injury. Jones is viewed as having upside. They also added several high school defensive linemen in New Bern (N.C.) four-star defensive lineman Keith Sampson and Miami (Fla.) Gulliver Prep four-star edge Lamont Green Jr. Sampson will be a strong interior piece, while Green will add to the young rotation off the edge.

They got a pair of high school linebackers, including top target, four-star linebacker Blake Nichelson from Manteca (Calif.), along with Duluth (Ga.) three-star linebacker DeMarco Ward. Nichelson is an extremely athletic linebacker who shined on both sides of the ball in high school. Ward is viewed as a good ‘football player’ at the position, who stuffed the stat sheet in high school.

In the secondary, they added five high school prospects – Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas four-star safety Conrad Hussey, Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep three-star defensive back Edwin Joseph, Pensacola (Fla.) Pensacola Catholic three-star defensive back Ja’Bril Rawls, Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines three-star defensive back Kenton Kirkland, and Meridian (Miss.) three-star defensive back Quindarrius Jones. FSU likes to try and start all of their defensive backs at cornerback and then figure out where they may fit in from there. The five signed by the Seminoles bring a variety of skills, size, and length.
